Adult AuDHD Assessments
Adult AuDHD Assessment
When You’re Not Just One Thing—You’re Both.
Are you constantly juggling too much, feeling both overstimulated and under-focused?
Do you thrive on intensity and structure—but shut down when things don’t go your way?
Do you sometimes wonder: “Am I autistic… or is it ADHD… or something else entirely?”
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
You might be AuDHD—a term used to describe individuals who are both Autistic and ADHD.
And understanding this unique neurotype could change everything.
At Love on the Autism Spectrum, I offer compassionate, in-depth Adult AuDHD Assessments to help you better understand your neurodivergent brain. ..And as you already neurodivergent brains are my favorite!
What Is AuDHD?
AuDHD is a lived experience, not a formal clinical diagnosis yet in the DSM-5 TR (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition Text-Revision). It describes the overlap between Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)—two distinct neurodevelopmental conditions that frequently co-exist in the same brain.
While Autism and ADHD were once thought to be mutually exclusive, research now shows that many adults meet the criteria for both. The blend of traits can create a nervous system that’s both highly sensitive and highly scattered—craving routine one minute, resisting it the next. I tend to describe it to neurotypical people, that clients have described to to me as if they are driving with the turn signal and the brakes on at the same time.
AuDHD doesn’t mean you’re broken or inconsistent.
It means your brain moves through the world in a brilliantly complex, often misunderstood way.
And you deserve support that reflects the full picture—not just half of it.
Why Seek an Adult AuDHD Assessment?
Many AuDHD adults spend years feeling misdiagnosed, gaslit, or invisible.
You may have been labeled “too sensitive” or “too intense.”
Or told you just need to “focus more” or “calm down.”
You may have tried countless tools—planners, meditation apps, routines—that never quite fit.
That’s because most systems only treat part of your brain’s reality.
An AuDHD Assessment offers you something different:
-
-
A whole-brain, whole-person evaluation
-
Rooted in lived experience and clinical expertise
-
Designed to validate and clarify, not pathologize or oversimplify
-
Common Signs of AuDHD in Adults
Many adults with AuDHD share traits like:
-
Oscillating between hyperfocus and total shutdown
-
Sensory overwhelm and emotional dysregulation
-
A deep need for structure—but difficulty maintaining it
-
High empathy with difficulty navigating social nuance
-
Executive dysfunction that impacts work and relationships
-
Masking behaviors that lead to exhaustion or burnout
-
Creative brilliance paired with chronic overwhelm
If this feels like your inner world, you’re not imagining it.
You may simply be navigating life with a dual neurotype—and that insight can be transformative.
Common Misconceptions About Autism
Let’s clear the air:
-
Autistic people lack empathy → False. Many autistic adults are highly empathetic and deeply impacted by others’ emotions.
-
Autism only affects kids → False. Autism is lifelong—and many people aren’t diagnosed until adulthood.
-
Autism looks one way → False. Autism is diverse across gender, race, ability, and presentation.
-
You can’t be autistic if you’re verbal, successful, or social → False. Masking can be invisible and costly.
Diagnosis isn’t about proving autism. It’s about understanding your unique brain.

Our Adult AuDHD Assessment Process
I provide a clear, compassionate approach rooted in clinical expertise and gold-standard assessment tools. Here’s what the process includes:
Free Screening Tools
To start, you’ll have access to complimentary online screeners designed to help you reflect on your traits and explore whether an AuDHD assessment is the right next step:
RAADS 14 Item Screening Questionnaire
The RAADS 14-item screening questionnaire is a quick self-assessment tool designed to spot possible autism traits in adults. It asks about things like social interactions, communication, sensory sensitivities, and repetitive behaviors often linked to autism.
Taking this short quiz can give you a good idea of whether it might be worth exploring further evaluation for an autism diagnosis.
Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ)
The AQ is a handy screening tool that helps identify autistic traits in adults. While it’s not a formal diagnostic test, it’s a great first step in figuring out if further evaluation might be needed.
If you’ve ever wondered whether your experiences could be related to autism but haven’t looked into a formal diagnosis yet, the AQ can give you some helpful insights to start with.
Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire (CAT-Q)
The CAT-Q is a self-assessment tool designed to identify individuals who may be masking their autistic traits. Camouflaging, or “masking,” is a common strategy used by individuals on the autism spectrum to hide their authentic experiences and behaviors to fit in with neurotypical society. This can often lead to delayed or missed diagnoses, as well as increased stress and burnout for those who engage in camouflaging.
Modified Girls Questionnaire for Autism for Adult Women (GQ-ASC)
The GQ-ASC is a self-assessment questionnaire made just for adult women on the autism spectrum. It focuses on the unique ways autistic traits show up in women, especially since they’re often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to gender bias in traditional tools. This questionnaire can help you better understand your experiences and even recognize yourself as autistic, even if you haven’t had a formal diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have symptoms from childhood?
Yes. Both Autism and ADHD are developmental. But many adults didn’t know the signs—or masked them early on. We help uncover your full history.
Can I still be AuDHD if I’m successful or high-achieving?
Absolutely. Many AuDHD adults are brilliant at coping—until they burn out. Functioning isn’t the same as thriving.
Will this diagnosis affect my job or insurance?
That depends on how and where you share it, let’s talk about it together. We can provide optional reports for workplace accommodations, and always protect your privacy.
What if I don’t “fit perfectly” into either category?
That’s exactly why an AuDHD assessment is helpful. We explore how the overlap shows up uniquely for you.
You Deserve to Understand Yourself Fully
You don’t have to choose between an ADHD label that misses your sensory world, or an Autism diagnosis that ignores your racing thoughts.
You are both.
You are more.
And with the right insight—you can begin living in a way that truly works for you.
