FAQs #1: What is the Typical Per Session Rate?

My session rate is $285 for a 50-minute session, whether we’re meeting individually or as a couple.

A limited number of sliding-scale sessions are available at a reduced rate, based on your annual gross income. These spaces are reserved for clients experiencing financial hardship and are offered as part of my commitment to accessibility and equity in care.

At this time, there is a waitlist for these reduced-rate sessions. If you’d like to be notified when a space becomes available, please let me know.

If you are interested in booking a Private Neurodiverse Couples Retreat, I’ll provide those rates separately based on the structure and duration of your retreat.

You’re always welcome to ask for an estimate of your expected costs. I’ll provide this in writing as a Good Faith Estimate, in alignment with federal guidelines under the No Surprises Act.

Your session fee includes our full 50 minutes together, as well as the time I spend between sessions reviewing notes, reflecting on our work, and preparing resources in your secure client portal to support your ongoing growth.

Additional professional services—such as support letters, case research, or consultation with other healthcare providers—are billed in 15-minute increments at the same hourly rate.

Please note that I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, I ask that you provide at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice—or missed sessions without notice—will be charged the full session fee.

FAQs #2: What about Insurance?

I accept payment by credit card through the secure Simple Practice online client portal.

At this time, I do not bill insurance directly.

However, I can provide a Superbill—a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

I am considered an out-of-network provider, which means you pay for sessions directly, and your insurance company may reimburse you a portion of the cost depending on your plan. Many of my clients receive partial reimbursement for individual therapy, couples therapy, or assessment services, but every policy is different.

If you’d like to explore your coverage options, I recommend calling your insurance provider before our first session.
You’ll find eight essential questions below to help guide that conversation.

Why I Choose to Work as a Self-Pay Provider

Because I work as a self-pay therapist, our work together remains fully in your hands.
You decide how often we meet—weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly—and how long you want to continue therapy or coaching.

There’s no external timeline or insurance restriction dictating your process.
You’ll know when it’s time to “graduate” or take a break—often when you’re feeling more regulated, connected, and aligned with your goals.

My intention as your therapist is simple:
To see you living with presence, clarity, and love in the world.

8 Essential Questions to Ask Your Insurance Provider

If you’re not sure what your plan covers, don’t worry—you’re not alone.
Insurance conversations can feel confusing, so I’ve outlined eight clear questions you can use when you call your provider.

Before you begin, write down the date, the representative’s name, and the reference number for your call. This helps keep things organized and ensures you have accurate information.

1️⃣ Does my policy cover out-of-network outpatient psychotherapy?

If yes, ask what percentage of each session will be reimbursed and whether there’s an annual or session-based limit.

2️⃣ Which CPT codes are reimbursable for my plan?

(These are the service codes used for therapy and assessment sessions.)

Individual Therapy (Telehealth):

  • 90837–95 — 50-minute individual therapy session via video

Couples or Family Therapy (Telehealth):

  • 90847–95 — 50-minute couples or family therapy session via video

Adult Autism and/or ADHD Assessments:

  • 96112 — Developmental test administration

  • 90837 — Individual therapy

  • 90791 — Initial diagnostic interview

I’ll provide a monthly Superbill that includes all relevant CPT codes and documentation.
Please note: reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies widely based on your provider and plan.
Checking this in advance helps you feel financially grounded and informed before we begin.

3️⃣ Is there a maximum number of therapy sessions allowed per year?

4️⃣ Will my plan reimburse for the diagnosis codes typically used in therapy?

Common examples include:

  • Adjustment Disorder — F43.20

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) — F84.0

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) — F90.-

5️⃣ If my insurance reimburses a percentage of each session, what percentage is covered?

And what is the maximum amount per session?

6️⃣ Does my plan require a referral or pre-authorization from a physician or psychiatrist?

If so, who should I contact to obtain it?

7️⃣ What is my deductible, and how much remains before coverage begins?

Is the deductible annual?

8️⃣ How do I submit my claims for reimbursement?

Ask for both the mailing address and the online submission instructions for claims.

Taking the time to gather this information now can help you feel clear and empowered about your mental health investment.

If you’d like, I can help you interpret your insurance answers during our consultation, so you understand exactly what to expect.

FAQs #3 What about SSDI Guidance in California?

If You’re Considering SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance)

If you’re in the process of applying for SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) in California, there are a few important things to know before we begin.

While our therapy work together can support you emotionally, mentally, and practically as you navigate this process, I’m not able to provide the formal medical documentation typically required for an SSDI claim.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I can provide clinical summaries, progress notes, or records of our sessions—but these documents are not a substitute for the specific medical certification that Social Security requires.

To complete your SSDI claim, you’ll need documentation and verification from a licensed medical doctor (MD) or psychiatrist.

If you choose, I can share relevant records or treatment summaries with your doctor once you sign a medical release form. However, it’s ultimately your doctor’s decision whether or not they sign and submit the SSDI paperwork on your behalf.

For additional information or support with your application, I recommend reaching out to:

  • The California Department of Social Services

  • A qualified SSDI attorney or disability advocate

While our sessions together can provide invaluable emotional healing, clarity, and support as you plan next steps, please keep in mind that they are not a substitute for the formal documentation required by government or legal agencies.

My goal is to help you feel informed, grounded, and supported throughout your process—emotionally and practically.

If you’re navigating SSDI, please don’t hesitate to bring it up in session. Together, we can explore how to balance the emotional challenges of the process while connecting you with the right practical resources and professional support.

FAQs #4 What is the Difference Between Therapy and Coaching?

Understanding the Difference Between Coaching and Psychotherapy

(And how to know which one is right for you)

Coaching and counseling both offer powerful pathways for growth, healing, and transformation—but they serve different purposes. Knowing the difference can help you choose the approach that best supports where you are and where you want to go.

Psychotherapy: Healing and Emotional Regulation

Psychotherapy focuses on addressing emotional or behavioral patterns that may be interfering with your daily life — such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or addiction.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), my role is to help you identify and heal the root causes of distress, so you can build emotional safety, self-understanding, and connection — both within yourself and in your relationships.

Therapy provides a safe and confidential space to explore the deeper layers of your inner world. Through this process, we work to relieve suffering, repair emotional wounds, and strengthen your capacity for resilience and relational trust.

To practice psychotherapy, I have completed extensive graduate education, clinical training, and government licensure. My background includes advanced studies in couples and trauma therapy, hundreds of supervised clinical hours, and decades of experience supporting neurodivergent adults and couples.

The goal of therapy is transformation through healing — to help you return to your natural sense of wholeness, regulation, and self-trust.

Coaching: Growth and Forward Movement

Coaching focuses on growth, alignment, and action. It’s designed for individuals and couples who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives, relationships, or careers — and who are not currently seeking treatment for a mental health condition.

In coaching, we begin from the understanding that you are already whole. Together, we clarify your goals, identify barriers, and create strategies for success — whether you’re seeking improved communication, deeper intimacy, or greater purpose and clarity in your personal or professional life.

While coaching is not a regulated profession in the same way as psychotherapy, I bring a high level of training and integrity to my work. I hold two advanced certifications:

  • Certified Life Coach – Martha Beck, Ph.D.

  • Advanced Certified Integral Coach – Institute of Transpersonal Psychology

These approaches allow me to integrate mindfulness, human development, and spiritual alignment into practical action — always through a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed lens.

How I Integrate Both Approaches in My Practice

Because I am both a licensed psychotherapist and a certified coach, I can offer either or both modalities depending on your needs and location.

It’s important to know that while a psychotherapist can provide coaching, a coach cannot legally provide psychotherapy without a mental health license.

Ethically, I always assess which approach best fits your goals and circumstances.

  • If you’re seeking emotional healing, trauma integration, or clinical support, we’ll work within a psychotherapy framework (available to California residents).

  • If you’re seeking personal growth, relational transformation, or professional alignment, we can engage in coaching (available worldwide).

During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss your needs and ensure that the path we choose together supports your wellbeing and aligns with all ethical and legal guidelines.

A Note About Location and Licensing

All psychotherapy services are provided in accordance with California state law, where I am licensed.

If you live outside California, you can work with me through coaching, which follows a personal-development model rather than a clinical one. Coaching clients receive the same depth of compassion, attention, and strategy—just through a non-clinical framework focused on growth and transformation.

In Summary

Psychotherapy Coaching
For emotional healing and symptom relief For personal growth, clarity, and action
Addresses anxiety, depression, trauma, or distress Focuses on goals, relationships, and self-development
Requires state licensure (California only) Available worldwide
Deep therapeutic process Forward-moving, strengths-based guidance
Confidential clinical relationship Collaborative, goal-oriented partnership

If you’re unsure which path feels right for you, I’ll help you decide during our first conversation. Together, we’ll choose the approach that best supports your nervous system, your growth, and your next chapter.

FAQs #5 How Do We Get Started--with a FREE "Clarity & Connection" Zoom

What to Expect from Your Clarity & Connection Zoom Call

Thank you for scheduling your Clarity & Connection Zoom Call.
This 20-minute Zoom conversation is your chance to slow down, breathe, and explore what’s been feeling hard—and what’s possible next.

After you find a time that works for you, you’ll receive a short 10-question form to complete before we meet. These questions help me understand more about you—your story, your challenges, and what you’ve already tried (the big wins and the moments that didn’t go quite as planned).

Once I receive your completed form, you’ll get an email with your Zoom link for our call.

During Our Time Together

You’ll talk, and I’ll listen.

You can share what’s bringing you here—what’s been overwhelming, what’s been shifting, or what you’re ready to change. I’ll ask a few gentle questions to help me understand what support might feel most aligned for you.

This is also your time to get curious about me and my approach.
You’re welcome to ask about:

  • My specialties (Autism, ADHD, trauma, and neurodiverse couples work)

  • The modalities I use (like IFS, EFT, Brainspotting, and trauma-informed care)

  • My experience working with neurodivergent adults and mixed-neurotype couples

  • Or anything else that helps you feel grounded and informed.

There’s no pressure to make a decision during our call—this is simply a space to connect and see whether we feel like a good fit.

If we both feel aligned and you’re ready to begin, we’ll schedule your first therapy or coaching session before we end the call.

Why I Call It “Clarity & Connection”

Starting therapy is an act of courage. I remember my very first therapy appointment—over twenty years ago now. I felt excited about creating change, but also nervous about the unknown.

If you’re feeling that mix of emotions, you’re not alone. Most people experience a sense of relief after our first conversation—because for perhaps the first time in a long time, they feel seen, heard, and understood.

That’s what I want for you, too.

This first call is the beginning of something meaningful:
a safe space to explore what’s been keeping you stuck and to rediscover what’s possible when you feel deeply supported.

Next Step

When you’re ready, click below to schedule your Clarity & Connection Call.
Once you’ve chosen a time and completed your form, I’ll review your responses and meet you on Zoom to begin our conversation.

Together, we’ll find the calm, clarity, and connection you’ve been searching for.

FAQs #6 Where Will We Meet?

All of our therapy and coaching sessions take place via Zoom, a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. I lead each session from my private, quiet office—free from interruptions and distractions—so you can feel fully seen, supported, and held during our time together.

To help you feel comfortable and grounded, I invite you to choose a private space where you feel safe and free of distractions. Many clients like to have a few comfort items nearby—such as:

  • a glass of water,

  • a box of tissues,

  • a cozy blanket,

  • or even a calm, comforting pet (as long as they aren’t too active or vocal).

Please avoid scheduling our sessions while driving or sitting in a car where privacy can’t be maintained. Therapy and coaching are most effective when you can be fully present, without worrying about being overheard or distracted.

Your Secure Client Portal

You’ll have access to your own Simple Practice client portal, a secure, encrypted space where all of our communication and documentation is housed.

Inside your portal, you can:

  • Complete and sign intake forms securely,

  • Send me confidential messages between sessions,

  • View invoices and Superbills,

  • And schedule or reschedule appointments at your convenience.

Because this portal is designed to protect your privacy, we’ll avoid using less secure communication methods like personal email or text whenever possible.

I also ask that you keep communication between sessions to a minimum, unless it’s related to scheduling or a time-sensitive concern. This helps maintain clear boundaries and ensures our in-session time remains deeply focused on you and your goals.

Everything is stored electronically—no paper files—and the system is simple, intuitive, and accessible, even for clients who don’t consider themselves tech-savvy.

In Summary

Our telehealth space is designed with the same care as an in-person session: private, comfortable, and grounded in respect for your emotional and sensory needs.

All you need to bring is yourself—and perhaps a soft place to land.

FAQs #7 What Can You Expect From Me?

Who I Am — and How I Show Up for You:

I Am Fiercely Compassionate

I want to see you and truly understand you.
My deepest commitment is to offer the empathy and respect you deserve—especially after all the challenges you’ve faced navigating life and relationships with Autism, ADHD, or Trauma.

I bring fierce compassion to every session because I know how healing it feels to finally be understood, not fixed. You’ve carried a lot on your own; you don’t have to anymore.

I Am Light

I have an incredible gift for seeing the light in every person I meet—and even if you can’t see it yet, I promise I can.

Our work together won’t always be heavy. Laughter, play, and curiosity are part of the healing process too. I love weaving moments of levity into our sessions because joy and connection are just as powerful as courage and truth.

I Am a Teacher Archetype

I’m here not only to support your growth—but to teach you the tools that will help you sustain it long after our work together ends.

My approach is grounded in education, neuroscience, and lived experience. I’ll share practical strategies and innovative frameworks you can use on your own—and even teach to others. Healing ripples outward.

I Am a Fire-Starter, an Illuminator, a Torchbearer

My role is to help you gently bring hidden patterns into the light. Together, we’ll uncover the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that no longer serve you—and transform them into clarity, confidence, and radiant joy.

I believe in your capacity to change. My job is to hold the torch while you find your way back to your own inner fire.

I Believe in Walking My Talk

Integrity matters to me. I am a therapist, coach, and lifelong student of my own growth. I’ve worked with my own therapist for more than twenty years, and I continue to seek guidance, reflection, and mentorship.

My practice is built on the values that sustain genuine transformation:
Integrity. Transparency. Authenticity. Openness. Curiosity. Transformation.

I don’t just teach these values—I live them, every day.

I’m Eager to Watch You Soar

My greatest joy is witnessing your transformation—seeing you reclaim your light, your truth, and your voice.

When you begin to live from that place of calm confidence and self-trust… that’s when I know my work has done what it was meant to do.

You deserve to soar—and I’ll be right here cheering you on every step of the way.
